HCV Testing Solution

HCV Testing Solution

A diagnostic testing solution to eliminate HCV.

It’s here—the industry’s only turnkey solution to eliminating the hepatitis C virus (HCV).

Prescient Medicine offers a fast, complete rapid testing process based on advanced technology and genotyping, with built-in state health reporting and patient referrals. And we go beyond testing to education and thought leadership, partnering with the Centers for Disease Control.

We take HCV seriously, because it is serious.1

  • HCV infects millions of people worldwide and is the most common chronic blood-borne infection in the U.S.
  • About 80% of those infected develop a chronic, lifetime condition—3.5 million people in the U.S. alone.
  • HCV can also cause hepatitis C, the #1 killer among infectious diseases.
  • Untreated hepatitis C can cause liver damage, liver failure, and liver cancer.

Our four pillars of HCV testing:

Screen at point of care, using the OraQuick® rapid antibody test, FDA-approved and CLIA-waived. It detects HCV antibodies via fingerstick or venipuncture with 98% accuracy, delivering results in as little as 20 minutes.2

Confirm with best-in-class RNA testing for presence of the virus.

Genotype to identify the best medication to eliminate that patient’s HCV.

Refer patients for care via the Prescient/CDC network, providing complete information for patient communication.

HCV can be detected and, with the right medication, cured.

It starts with screening the right population:

  • Are baby boomers (The CDC says 3 in 4 people with HCV were born from 1945–1965)
  • Received donated blood or organs before 1992
  • Injected drugs, even just once, even years ago
  • Have chronic liver disease, HIV or AIDS, or other medical conditions
  • Have abnormal liver tests or liver disease
  • Were born to a mother with HCV
  • Have been exposed to blood from a person with HCV
  • Are on hemodialysis
